Meet David

I took up art as and level at Stowe when I realised I was going to flunk  biology . Colour and landscape came naturally but drawing people was a different matter.

After school I went to live with a highly eccentric and creative family in the Camargue where I picked asparagus at dawn and assisted a sculpture son  for the rest of the day. Weekends were spent riding , rounding up bulls and going to Courses (non killing bull fights ) . There I met Liz Frink and many other brilliant artists who encouraged my painting.

During the next few years in England I worked weekdays for a bank  and painted at weekends producing enough for two solo exhibitions and an entry for the Summer Exhibition at the RA .

In 1977 Debbie and I moved to Hong Kong . Not paid enough to live on I painted every free moment producing enough for a major exhibition at the HK Art Centre . Gradually banking paid off and hard work & fun took over from painting!

It has taken a long time to get back into the swing . Inspired by the desire to paint for a real purpose I decided last year to work towards this exhibition where all the net proceeds will be donated to two highly worthy charities , The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and The Borne Foundation.
